An investigation was opened by the prosecution of the Siliana court of first instance following the destruction of a large number of olive trees in the El Krib region.
A farmer, tenant of an agricultural plot belonging to the state, is accused of having brutally shot down several hundred trees, causing significant damage. The action was deemed not in accordance with the agricultural standards in force.
Issa Guesmi, spokesperson for the Siliana court, confirmed the opening of the investigation to Mosaic FM after the authorities were alerted to the violation of the regulations by the farmer. The latter, who operated the contract under contract with the Regional Agricultural Development Commission (CRDA), is now under investigation for aggravated breach of confidence. The case was entrusted to the Research and Investigation Brigade of the Gaâfour National Guard, which continues the investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
The judicial authorities take this case very seriously because it could involve significant sanctions, in particular for the intentional destruction of public goods.
