A earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale was recorded Monday afternoon in the governorate of Beja, according to data from the National Institute of Meteorology (INM).
INM seismic monitoring stations detected the tremor on January 5, 2026 at 2:24 p.m. local time. According to initial analyses, the epicenter of the earthquake was located northeast of Tibar, at coordinates 36.58 degrees north latitude and 9.21 degrees east longitude.
A shock felt by the population
The tremor was felt by residents of several areas of the Beja region. There is no information regarding casualties or damage, according to the first available data.
