A boat carrying illegal migrants was shipped to 21 miles from the port of Mahdia. It transported 31 irregular migrants, the majority of whom were Tunisians.
The boat had left the coasts of Teboulba, in the governorate of Monastir when it was sinking. It was a fishing boat that alerted the maritime units of the Mahdia National Guard.
The National Guard units managed to rescue 28 people and to recover two bodies, while a third person is still missing.
