A new rainy deterioration affects the north of the country this Friday, accompanied by a sharp cooling and violent winds. The National Institute of Meteorology is reporting rains that are sometimes intense and stormy, particularly on the northern coast and the far northwest.
Cold and unstable weather in the north and center
Friday looks set to be dominated by cold and wet weather over a large part of the territory. According to today’s weather data, sometimes dense clouds began to cover the north and locally the center, generating scattered rain. In the northern coastal regions, this precipitation took on a temporarily stormy character, with notable intensity at times.
In other areas of the country, the sky will remain variable, alternating between clearings and cloudy periods, before the south-east is gradually affected by further scattered rain in the evening, particularly on the island of Djerba.
Heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds
The monitoring bulletin published by the National Institute of Meteorology confirms a marked rainy episode in the north, likely to affect the center-east in places. The far northwest regions will be the most exposed: accumulations can reach 20 to 40 mm, or even up to 60 mm locally.
The INM also reports occasional storms accompanied by hail, a phenomenon likely to increase the risk of runoff or temporary disruptions on the roads.
The northwesterly wind will blow strongly near the coasts and on the heights, where gusts could exceed 70 km/h, particularly during thunderstorms. Elsewhere, it will remain moderate to relatively sustained, without reaching the same peaks of intensity.
In terms of temperatures, the cold air mass settled over the country causes the maximums to drop between 6 and 12°C in the western, northern and central regions, while the rest of the territory will record values between 13 and 18°C, confirming a largely wintry day.
