A new atmospheric disturbance is affecting Tunisia, prompting the National Institute of Meteorology to place several regions in the north and center on yellow alert. Sometimes heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected, calling for increased caution, particularly for activities sensitive to climatic conditions.
The National Institute of Meteorology (INM) has reinforced its alert level by placing a large part of the north and center of the country under yellow alert, following changes in atmospheric conditions expected during the day.
This decision comes in a context of unstable weather marked by the formation of storm cells likely to cause sometimes heavy rainfall, particularly in several northern regions and, more locally, in the center of the country.
Conditions conducive to rainy-stormy episodes
According to updated forecasts, the weather situation will remain dominated by stormy activity which may be accompanied by sustained rain at times. This type of configuration increases the risk of significant runoff, traffic difficulties and occasional disruptions in certain vulnerable areas.
The authorities are therefore calling on citizens, particularly those whose activities are highly dependent on climatic conditions, to be vigilant and adapt their movements and behaviors accordingly.
What does yellow alert mean?
The yellow vigilance level corresponds to a preventive alert level. It does not indicate a situation of extreme danger, but indicates that the forecast weather conditions may present localized risks and require special attention.
This system also aims to enable civil protection services, as well as health and local authorities, to anticipate possible interventions and be ready to mobilize their teams if the situation requires it.
The weather alert map is updated at least twice a day, in order to continuously assess the evolution of risks in the different regions of the country. It allows you to indicate whether one or more governorates are likely to be affected by dangerous phenomena in the next 24 hours.
This new alert confirms the onset of a period of disturbed weather, calling for caution and regular monitoring of official weather reports.
