The water situation in Tunisia remains worrying despite a slight increase in the filling rate of the dams. According to the latest data published by the National Observatory for Agriculture (ONAGRI), the overall filling rate reached 38.32% in April 28, 2025, against 36.5% on April 16. This modest progression reflects recent water intake, but remains insufficient to reverse the substantive trend.
The total volume of resources stored in the dams now amounts to 907.47 million cubic meters, compared to 865.3 million two weeks earlier. If there is a gain of more than 42 million m³ in ten days, this improvement remains relative to a significantly higher seasonal average.
The regional disparities observed in mid-April remain topical. Northern dams continue to capture most of the resources, taking advantage of more generous rainfall. On the other hand, the regions of the center and the CAP-Bon remain in a critical situation.
Despite the sporadic precipitation in recent weeks, the authorities and farmers face a difficult season. Water stress persists, in particular for irrigation and domestic supply in several regions.
