As part of an official two-day visit, on July 22 and 23, 2025, Mohamed Ali Nafti, Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians abroad, welcomed Massad Boulos, High Councilor of US President Donald Trump, of the Middle East and Africa this afternoon. The latter was accompanied by Joshua Harris, US deputy Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, in charge of North Africa.

The meeting was an opportunity to recall the solidity of historical relations between Tunisia and the United States, established for more than 228 years, and to highlight their continuity since Tunisian independence on the basis of mutual respect and common interest. The two parties reaffirmed their shared desire to continue the development of this cooperation and to consolidate it in the service of stability and regional and African development.

Minister Nafti pleaded for an intensification of trade and for a revival of American investments in Tunisia, highlighting the promising opportunities offered by the Tunisian market. He also invited American companies to engage in carrying out major projects with a strategic dimension.

Nafti has also expressed his wish to see the Tunisian community established in the United States benefiting from enhanced support in order to facilitate its integration and enhance its skills.

For its part, Boulos reaffirmed Washington’s interest in maintaining a dynamic of bilateral and multilateral consultation with Tunisia, while emphasizing the importance of bringing Tunisian and American institutions closer, both in the public and private sector.

The discussions also focused on regional crises, including the dramatic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. The Tunisian diplomacy chief insisted on the urgency of transporting humanitarian and medical aid, warning the consequences of a delay in the response to the needs of the populations. The Libyan question was also addressed, with a call to support an inter-Libyan political process under the aegis of the United Nations, guaranteeing a lasting peace, the territorial and the stability of the neighboring country.

This visit is part of a context where Tunisia seeks to strengthen its strategic alliances and attract more international economic partners to support its revival.
