Ennakl Automobiles announced the launch of a preventive recall campaign targeting several models from the Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT and Škoda brands. The operation concerns vehicles equipped with Takata brand airbags, a component involved in one of the largest safety recalls globally due to a risk of failure during deployment.
The recall affects cars whose first entry into circulation was between 2000 and 2018. Owners are invited to go to the official Ennakl Automobiles website to check if their vehicle is among those affected. The operation is simple: just enter the chassis number (VIN) for instant confirmation.
For cars actually affected, the company calls on drivers to contact Ennakl Automobiles or the nearest approved agency to arrange an appointment. Replacement or repair of the airbag is fully covered, free of charge.
This recall is part of a prevention effort intended to limit the risks linked to this type of airbag, already at the heart of numerous safety campaigns in several countries. Ennakl ensures that the availability of service and parts allows rapid support, in order to guarantee an optimal level of security for users.
What problem?
The technical problem lies in the airbag inflator, a component which triggers the inflation of the airbag in the event of a collision. On some Takata models, the inflator may corrode or react poorly, especially in humid or hot environments. This failure can cause the airbag to explode during deployment, projecting pieces of metal towards the passenger compartment.
