The Civil Protection teams and the Manouba Forest Management managed, in the evening of Saturday, to master two fires which declared themselves in two farms located in El Mansoura and El Mehriyen, in the delegation of El Batane.
The flames have ravaged an area of 27 hectares of wheat, barley and harvest residues, according to a declaration by Karim Saad, head of the forest of forests, to the TAP agency.
Karim Saad said that effective interventions have made it possible to circumscribe the fires in about four hours, preventing their spread to large fields of neighboring cereals. Four fire trucks were mobilized, and the interventions were distributed between the two farms according to the available teams.
The manager stressed that the causes of fires remain unknown, especially since the two farms were unoccupied at the time of the events. He also pointed out a significant increase in temperatures on Saturday.
In this regard, he recalled that several fires recently broke out in different areas, causing limited damage in cereal fields and harvest residues. He praised the effectiveness of interventions as well as the preventive measures implemented.
