At the Mediterranean Artificial Intelligence Forum, organized on November 20 and 21, 2025, Tunisie Telecom presented a strategy that combines digital sovereignty, energy transition and new generation connectivity.

The national operator intends to make AI a pillar of development and innovation in the Mediterranean. Here is how he prepares for this new stage.

A structured vision for a safe, efficient and sovereign Tunisian AI

Tunisie Telecom took advantage of this major regional meeting to unveil a roadmap that places artificial intelligence at the heart of its technological priorities. The operator claims to want to transform AI into a competitiveness engine for the Tunisian economy while guaranteeing control of strategic data.

During the forum, its representatives insisted on the need for robust infrastructure, clean energy and high-level international connectivity in order to build an ecosystem capable of supporting the massive uses of AI in the years to come.

Certified digital infrastructures serving trusted AI

The company highlighted its national network of N-Cloud labeled and G-Cloud eligible Data Centers, distributed across several regions of the country to ensure resilience and continuity of service.

The Carthage Data Center, the group’s technological showcase, is ISO 27001, ISO 27701 and ISO 9001 certified, which guarantees strict data governance, reinforced privacy protection and high operational quality standards.

Thanks to these sovereign platforms, Tunisia has hosting capacities capable of supporting demanding AI applications, while securing critical flows and ensuring operational continuity aligned with international best practices.

A massive energy transition to power AI infrastructure

The operator also recalled its energy shift undertaken for several years, in particular through the deployment of a solar capacity of 3.5 MWp on more than 150 technical sites. These installations make it possible to reduce dependence on the national electricity network and anticipate the impact of the growth of digital uses and AI.

This policy is part of a 2026–2029 strategic program which provides for the continued expansion of renewable energies, in order to make Tunisie Telecom one of the first regional operators equipped with telecom infrastructures fully compatible with the requirements of sustainable AI.

The Medusa cable: a turning point for sovereignty and the regional development of AI

Among the advances presented, the landing of the Medusa submarine cable in Bizerte on November 1, 2025 constitutes a decisive milestone. With a capacity of 22 Tbps, this international backbone connects Tunisia directly to Europe via the latest generation technology, considerably strengthening the country’s position as a Mediterranean digital hub.

This sovereign connectivity now makes it possible to manage, store and distribute massive volumes of data and AI calculation, offering Tunisian and regional economic players a stable, secure and competitive infrastructure across the Mediterranean basin.
