Young doctors will start, starting on Thursday, June 12, a five -day face -down strike, accompanied by a total boycott of the process of choosing the internship centers, in order to claim an improvement in their wages and the payment of their non -paid guard allowances.

In a statement published this Wednesday on the modalities of the strike, the organization of young doctors said that the strike will be held on 12, 13, 16, 17 and 18. It will concern all university hospital activities, including academic courses and additional lessons in the university program. The night guards and emergency services are however excluded from the strike in order to ensure a minimum of continuity of front line care.

The organization indicated that the presence at the Faculty of Medicine of Tunis is compulsory for all resident and internal doctors for the duration of the strike. They are also required to participate in sit-in and protest movements organized within the faculty. The boycott of the choice of internship centers will be total and without exception, she specifies.

In addition, a joint decree of the Ministers of National Defense, Finance and Health, recently published in the Official Journal No. 69, sets at 2000 dinars the amount of the specific premium granted to resident doctors carrying out their national service within the Ministry of Health and its affiliated structures. This sum will be paid monthly, the Ministry of Health taking charge of this premium intended for social security coverage.
