As the winter holidays approach, the Ministry of Transport has announced a series of exceptional measures aimed at ensuring the travel of travelers in better conditions throughout the territory.
As part of its preparations for the 2025 winter holidays, the Ministry of Transport has decided to implement a set of exceptional provisions, in coordination with its regional directorates as well as the national and regional transport companies placed under its supervision. These measures will be applied on December 19, 20 and 21, 2025 as well as January 3, 4 and 5, 2026.
The ministry specified that regional transport companies, the National Interurban Transport Company and the Tunisian National Railway Company were authorized to operate additional services on all of their regular lines, in order to cope with the expected increase in the number of travelers.
In addition, authorization has been granted to regional transport companies and the National Interurban Transport Company to operate trips outside their usual lines, departing from passenger transport stations.
Authorization granted to collective taxis
The Ministry of Transport also announced, exceptionally, the authorization granted to collective “rental” taxis to make journeys throughout the national territory, without being limited to their usual circulation zone mentioned on the operating map. This measure, however, remains conditional on compliance with the handling of passengers from official rental stations to the destinations concerned.
In order to guarantee the smooth running of this program, the regional directorates of the ministry were invited to mobilize teams of land transport controllers to ensure monitoring at the transport stations and intervene, if necessary, by granting exceptional authorizations in coordination with the General Directorate of Land Transport.
These provisions aim to streamline traffic, reduce congestion and offer travelers more suitable transport conditions during this busy period.
