National crude oil production fell by 11% to 1,006 kilotons, according to the latest data published by the National Energy and Mines Observatory. This development emerges from the report on the economic situation published at the end of October. The decline concerns the majority of active oil fields.
According to the Observatory, the drop in production affected most of the main fields. The largest decreases were recorded in Barka (-82%), Nawara (-41%) and Ashtart (-28%).
Other sites also showed notable declines, notably Adem (-17%), Gherib (-20%), El Hajeb/Guebiba (-13%), Halk El Manzel (-11%), Miskar (-7%) and El Borma (-4%), confirming a downward trend extended to the entire sector.
Occasional increases on certain sites
Conversely, some fields recorded an improvement in their production. These include Ezzaouia (+45%), Gremda/El Ain (+370%) and DST (+35%).
More modest increases were also noted in Bir Ben Tartar (+3%) and Cercina (+1%), without however compensating the overall decline observed at the national level.
Fall in daily production
The Observatory also indicates that the daily average of oil production increased from 29.1 thousand barrels per day to 25.6 thousand barrels per day over one year.
This development confirms the contraction in national crude oil production and its direct implications on the country’s energy balance.
