During the World Forum on Local Production in Abu Dhabi, organized by the World Health Organization, the Minister of Health, Mustapha Ferjani, met Ike James, responsible for the transfer of technologies to the Medicines Patent Pool (MPP), an international organization dedicated to the expansion of access to drugs and the promotion of local production in developing countries.
During this exchange, Ferjani stressed that Tunisia has all the necessary assets to succeed in this strategic field. He highlighted a clear political desire, high -quality local expertise and a solid experience in vaccine production, accumulated over the decades. The Minister also reiterated his call for international support to allow Tunisia to position himself as an essential regional platform for the production of vaccines at the service of the African continent.
For its part, the Medicines Patent Pool expressed its enthusiastic support for this ambitious project. The organization is ready to support this initiative by launching preliminary studies to create an environment conducive to sustainable production, not only of vaccines, but also innovative biopharmaceutical treatments.
This project goes far beyond the production of vaccines. It is also part of a broader vision, aimed at developing bio-production and immunotherapy activities in Tunisia, thus positioning the country as a key player in the future of modern medicine. This initiative could become a local response to growing health challenges in Africa, helping to strengthen the continent’s autonomy in terms of health.
