The company Tunisie Autoroutes announced, this Wednesday, July 16, 2025, the abolition of the Sousse toll station – Kalaâ Sghira on the A1 motorway. This decision is part of a national restructuring plan aimed at fluidifying traffic and improving users’ comfort.

Optimize traffic fluidity

The toll station located between Sousse and Kalaâ Sghira on the A1 is now closed. This measure follows several technical studies carried out by Tunisia Autoroutes, and responds to a desire to modernize the toll network and optimize the fluidity of traffic, especially during peak hours.

Nabil Jaziri, commercial director of the company, explained this Wednesday, on the air Mosaic FM radio, that the complaints of motorists in the face of recurring traffic jams at this crossing point had weighed in the decision.

During the resort’s dismantling phase, users are called for caution, compliance with traffic signs and safety instructions set up.

Reallowing pricing

The toll reorganization project is part of a broader plan to modernize the Tunisian motorway network, with the objectives: the reduction of congestion points, the adoption of more effective systems, and a better distribution of prices.

With the immediate closure of the Sousse toll station – Kalaâ Sghira, a reallocation of pricing will be applied: the 500 millimes of this station are added to the previous station of Hergla, whose price goes to 2500 millimes.
