On Friday August 22, 2025, the National Oil Council met under the supervision of the Minister of Agriculture, Hydraulic Resources and Fisheries, Ezzeddine Ben Cheikh. The meeting brought together representatives of public structures and the olive sector.
The Council examined the advancement of exports, the global production and price indicators, as well as the programs for the 2025/2026 season. The members praised the early outfit of this meeting, which allows you to better prepare.
They studied the proposals of the program matrix and added new recommendations. These measures concern all stages of the sector: production, processing, storage and marketing.
The Minister confirmed that he would take into account all suggestions. He indicated that the signs for the next season are positive and called for closer cooperation between all the actors. The objective is to correct the shortcomings of the previous season and to better coordinate efforts to ensure the smooth running of the season.
It should be recalled that during the 2025/2026 season, Tunisia exported 239,000 tonnes of olive oil, an increase of 35 % compared to the same period last year.
