Anger rises in the agricultural sector: sit-in and strike notice are planned to make the demands of agents of the Ministry of Agriculture heard.
The General Federation of Agriculture, affiliated with the Tunisian General Union of Labor (UGTT), announces the launch of sectoral protest movements from June 12, 2025. The first step will consist in carrying the red brassard from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., as a form of symbolic protest.
These actions are part of the decisions taken by the extraordinary administrative committee of May 27, in reaction to the non-application of agreements signed with the authorities, in particular those of February 6, 2021 and September 15, 2022, relating to financial and regulatory provisions.
Among the main demands are, the effective implementation of the aforementioned agreements; the adoption of specific statutes for administrative executives, technicians and forest workers; the publication of the trades code for ministry agents; the creation of a National Forest Office; the provision of working logistics means to forest agents; the opening of promotion competitions for the 1920s, 2024 and 2025; the urgent resolution of the problem of work clothes; and the payment of bonuses due, such as the moving bonus and that of night work.
The Federation also calls for a large sectoral demonstration before the Ministry of Agriculture on June 19, followed by a general strike in all institutions and administrations under the sector on a date to be specified.
