The Tunisian embassy in Cairo announced that the Tunisian authorities will put in place, as of January 15, 2026, a simplification of the procedures for issuing visas to Egyptian citizens upon entry into Tunisian territory.
According to a press release from the embassy, this measure exclusively concerns certain categories of travelers:
- University researchers and teachers;
- Doctors;
- Senior state civil servants whose rank is at least equivalent to that of director, with mention of the profession in the passport and presentation of a certificate of employment.
The system also extends to families of mixed Tunisian-Egyptian couples (spouse and children), upon presentation of proof of marriage to a Tunisian man or woman.
For tourist groups of more than ten people, Egyptian travelers will need to obtain prior approval from security authorities. This authorization must be requested via Tunisian travel agencies approved by the Ministry of Tourism and requires:
- The nominal lists of participants;
- All documents constituting the file (prepaid hotel reservation with voucher, return tickets corresponding to the dates of stay, copies of valid passports);
- A detailed program of the stay, from arrival to departure.
This initiative aims to facilitate academic, professional and tourist travel while guaranteeing secure supervision and compliance with Tunisian administrative procedures.
