The Ministry of Health warns the population against the risks linked to the consumption of canned food. According to the institution, some preserves can cause serious poisoning, including botulism, a rare but potentially fatal disease that can lead to paralysis and death.
In this context, the ministry recommends that all citizens respect several safety instructions:
- Avoid dubious products : Do not buy or consume inflated, damaged or whose origin is unknown.
- Favor official circuits : Do not obtain food exposed randomly and likely to contaminate. Prefer stores, authorized points of sale and subject to sanitary control.
- Check the labels : ensure the origin of the product, the expiration date and the conservation conditions.
- Secure storage after opening : Keep the foodstuffs in containers adapted to food contact, in the refrigerator, and consume them quickly.
The ministry highlights the importance of immediately consulting a hospital in the event of disturbing symptoms after ingestion, such as extreme fatigue, double vision, difficulty swallowing or breathing.
“Your security is our responsibility to everyone, and prevention is better than healing,” insists the ministry.
