Tunisia reveals its national metrology strategy by 2035

The president and chief executive officer of the National Metrology Agency, Fathi Fadhli, presented this Wednesday, September 24, 2025 the main lines of the national metrology strategy by 2035, under development since 2020.

According to his declarations to FM mosaicthe orientation document was submitted today to the various actors during a meeting at the headquarters of UTICA, in order to be enriched before its final version which will be presented to the government for adoption before the end of the year. The entry into force of the strategy is planned in stages, from 2026 and until 2035.

Priority axes

This strategy is based on several aspects, in particular:

  • strengthening metrological infrastructure in the broader framework of quality infrastructure,
  • the development of industrial metrology,
  • communication and awareness,
  • Knowledge transfer,
  • as well as the modernization of legal metrology.

Objectives and impact

Fathi Fadli stressed that this roadmap aims to support product quality analyzes and tests, stimulate investment in the field, and create a funding fund dedicated to young entrepreneurs.

As a reminder, metrology – measuring science – is essential to guarantee the accuracy and uniformity of the units used in industry, trade and scientific research. It is an essential base to facilitate international exchanges and support quality management systems such as ISO standards.

Through this strategy, the National Metrology Agency intends to apply Tunisian policy in terms of quality and standardization, in accordance with the country’s commitments to the European Union and the various global economic partners.
