The Tunisian authorities have decided to prohibit the manufacture, import, storage and marketing of smoothing products containing glyoxylic acid, deemed dangerous for public health. The measure was published Tuesday September 9 in the Official Journal of the Tunisian Republic.

The Ministries of Commerce, Health, Interior, Exports and Finance development announced this prohibition after a preliminary study by the National Risk Evaluation Agency, reports the TAP agency.

The survey has revealed that the majority of smoothing products available on the market contain concentrations of glyoxylic acid considered worrying, representing a serious threat to public health.

Consequences and application

In accordance with law n ° 117 of December 7, 1992 on consumer protection, the products concerned will be seized and destroyed at the expense of suppliers.

Manufacturers, importers and distributors must withdraw all non -compliant products on the market, by taking charge of all costs. Any breach of these obligations exposes offenders to judicial sanctions.
