A government decree n ° 385 of the year 2025, dated August 4, 2025, was published in the Official Journal of the Tunisian Republic, relating to the creation of a Consulate General of the Tunisian Republic in the city of Benghazi, in Libya.
This decision, now official, takes effect upon publication in the Official Journal. It marks an important diplomatic turning point in Tunisian-Libyan relations, in particular with East Libyan, of which Benghazi is the main metropolis.
The opening of this consular representation aims to strengthen the Tunisian diplomatic presence in Libya, facilitate the administrative procedures of Tunisian nationals living or working in this region, and supporting Tunisian companies who seek to invest or operate in East Libyan.
This decision also comes in a context of progressive stabilization in Libya, where bilateral relations with Tunisia are strengthened, both politically and economically.
