Tunisia confirms its place in the leading group of countries which are redrawing the tourist map of Africa. According to a report from the international platform Travel and Tourism World (TTW)specializing in travel, technology and hospitality, the country is among the fastest growing hotel markets on the continent alongside Egypt, Gambia and Tanzania.
This progression is part of a broader movement: Africa is experiencing real excitement in the hotel sector, stimulated by the opening of new establishments, the renovation of existing complexes and the rise of a high-end offer capable of meeting sustained global demand. Desert resorts, beachfront hotels and premium experiences are transforming the continent into one of the world’s most dynamic destinations.
In this context, Tunisia is doing well thanks to a diversified tourism product. TTW highlights the exceptional potential of the southwest of the country, particularly the Tozeur region, where hotels located on the edge of the desert attract customers looking for tranquility, authenticity and immersive landscapes. The palm groves, Saharan settings and traditional architecture give the region a unique identity, perfectly aligned with the expectations of booming experiential tourism.
Large international groups
The growth of the African hotel sector also benefits the continent’s image on the international scene. Africa is gradually establishing itself as one of the fastest growing destinations, attracting travelers motivated by culture, nature and unique experiences. This dynamic is reinforced by large international groups like TUI, which plan to open seven new hotels in the region.
For Tunisia, these trends confirm the already remarkable performances of the season. The country recorded record figures: until October 20, 2025, the number of tourists increased by 9.2%, reaching 9.057 million visitors, according to data from the National Tourism Office. Indicators which demonstrate a sector in full recovery and a strengthened regional positioning.
