The regional vigilance commission and the fight against locusts met at the headquarters of the KEF governorate, under the chairmanship of the governor of the region, Walid Kabiya. This meeting is part of the preventive measures set up to deal with any unforeseen situation.
During the session, a report was presented by the Regional Development Delegate and specialized officials from the KEF Regional Agriculture of Agriculture. The report pointed out that the swarms of locusts currently present in the region do not represent an immediate danger, being under control thanks to the preventive actions taken by the State.
The authorities have reassured that Tunisia is safe from any serious threat of locusts and that the ministry continues to follow their trips closely.
The meeting also made it possible to review the logistical and material preparations of the KEF regional agriculture. This includes close coordination between all the parties concerned, as well as with neighboring governorates and border regions with Algeria. The objective is to closely monitor the trips of locusts and to identify the necessary equipment in an emergency, as the official page of the KEF governorate said.
The governor insisted on the need to remain vigilant and to adopt adequate measures to respond to any emergency. He stressed the importance of maintaining the regional commission and the local committees, led by the delegates, under constant alert. This system also includes coordination with farmers in all delegations in the region, local mayors and agricultural information cells to strengthen vigilance, in particular in border areas, and to point out any anomaly.
