According to the National Observatory of Agriculture (ONAGRI), the export revenues of Tunisian olive oil fell from 31% to 3190 MD during the first nine months of the 2024/2025 campaign (November 2024 – July 2025) compared to the same period of the previous year.
Despite the drop in income, exported quantities recorded a significant increase of 36.2%, reaching 236.9 thousand tonnes. This evolution is explained by the fall in average export prices, which lost 49.3%, going from 26.58 D/kg to 13.47 D/kg.
The main Italy destination
In July 2025, Italy remained the main destination of Tunisian olive oil with 29.6%of the volumes exported, followed by Spain (15.4%) and Canada (14.6%).
Focus on organic olive oil
Exports of organic olive oil reached 46.9 thousand tonnes, for a value of 637 MD, representing 19.8% and 20% of the total exports in terms of quantity and value respectively. The average price of this category is 13.59 d/kg.
The quantities of conditioned organic oil represent 6.1% of the total biological volume exported. The main markets remain Italy (51.7%), followed by Spain (18.9%) and the United States (18.2%).
The 2024/2025 campaign illustrates the volatility of international olive oil prices, which directly impacts Tunisian revenues despite an increase in exported volumes. Organic olive oil continues to represent a strategic segment, in particular for access to European and North American markets.
