The Minister of Equipment and Housing, Salah Zouari, announced on Wednesday July 23, 2025 that more than 7,000 social housing units have been delivered to date as part of the Special Social Housing Program. He also presided over the ceremony for the delivery of 42 housing units to beneficiaries of the Fidaa Foundation in Ksar Saïd.
Speaking during an official ceremony organized in Ksar Saïd, Minister Salah Zouari delivered an updated assessment of the social housing program, saying that more than 7,000 dwellings have been issued so far.
2,000 dwellings in the final work phase
He said that nearly 5,000 units have been delivered since the beginning of 2025, and that 2000 others are in the final of work, with a delivery scheduled in the coming months, the vast majority in the Grand Tunis region.
This Wednesday, 42 social housing units were officially given to beneficiaries affiliated to the Fidaa Foundation, a structure dedicated to supporting the wounded and families of martyrs of the security forces. The Minister stressed that this gesture constitutes a symbolic tribute to these citizens “who have given a lot to the nation”, with the approach of the Festival of the Republic (July 25).
“I am very happy to give these accommodation to those who have sacrificed themselves for Tunisia. It is a duty of recognition, ”said Salah Zouari. He also insisted on the united and strategic nature of the national social housing program, which aims to meet the needs of the most vulnerable populations.
Delivery of contracts of 129 social housing in Enfidha
Last Monday, the Minister of Equipment and Housing, presided over the ceremony for the delivery of contracts of 129 social housing units in Enfidha (governorate of Sousse), as part of the “Sakan Erriyadh” project. The event took place in the presence of the Saudi Arabian ambassador to Tunisia, the Governor of Sousse and the President of the Fidaa Foundation.
The project, which provides for the construction of 290 individual dwellings on 80,000 m², is jointly funded by the Tunisian State and the Saudi development fund, for a total amount of 15 million dinars. The first batch of housing was awarded to beneficiaries, including wounded from the Revolution and families of martyrs. The rest will be distributed once the final lists validated.
Eradicate 10,000 rudimentary dwellings
As part of the national strategy aimed at strengthening the supply of housing accessible to low -income citizens, the government provides for the construction of 5,000 social housing units in 2025, with an estimated budget for 450 million dinars.
The “Revision of the National Housing Strategy Revision”, aims to eradicate 10,000 rudimentary dwellings to replace them with decent homes.
The Special Social Housing Program is part of the national strategy to combat precarious housing. It mainly targets families with limited income, people living in unsanitary housing, and certain priority groups (orphans, war wounded, families of martyrs, etc.).
