The number of British tourists who visited Tunisia reached 380,000 visitors as of October 20, 2025, marking an increase of 42% compared to 2024 and almost 98% compared to 2019, according to Fakhri Khalsi, representative of the Tunisian National Tourism Office (ONTT) in London.
Speaking this Monday, October 27 on national radio, Mr. Khalsi stressed that “the image of Tunisia on the British market is very positive, particularly over the last two years, where the British tourist has returned in force to the Tunisian destination.”
Towards a return to the record levels of 2014
According to ONTT projections, the number of British visitors is expected to exceed 425,000 by the end of the year, a figure equivalent to that recorded in 2014, the reference year before the decline of the British market following the 2015 attacks.
This period marked a massive withdrawal of tour operators and a suspension of direct flights, before a gradual resumption from 2018 thanks to improved security and the relaunch of promotional campaigns led by the ONTT.
In the same context, 52 weekly flights are scheduled from the United Kingdom to several Tunisian airports (Tunis-Carthage, Enfidha, Djerba) for the 2025-2026 winter season, while 78 flights per week will be operated from 16 British cities during the 2026 summer season.
Mr. Khalsi added that Tunisia is now among the 25 best tourist destinations in the world, a ranking which notably recommends it as one of the most beautiful diving sites in North Africa.
This dynamic confirms the return of confidence of British travelers and the renewed positioning of Tunisia as a safe and attractive Mediterranean destination, supported by the resumption of air traffic and the presence of major tour operators on the British market.
