From this Monday, August 25, 2025, Tunisia will experience a slight increase in temperatures, before a new increase marked on Wednesday and Thursday. According to the National Institute of Meteorology (INM), a drop -down gradual return is expected on Friday.
Forecasts for the week
INM engineer, Anis Satouri, said that temperatures will start to climb slightly on Monday, will stabilize on Tuesday, then experience a greater increase between Wednesday and Thursday, before a progressive decline from Friday.
He also reported rains qualified as “medical” recorded on Saturday evening in several regions: 17 mm in Haffouz (Kairouan), 7 mm in Cherarda (Kairouan), 11 mm at Kef, 20 mm in Sidi Bouzid, 16 mm in Ouled Haffouz (Sidi Bouzid), 9 mm at Menzel Chaker (Sfax). In other localities in the center, precipitation varied between 1 and 7 mm.
For this Sunday, the sky will remain not very cloudy throughout the country, with a densification of the clouds in the afternoon in the west of the north and the center, notably in Kasserine, south of Siliana, Sidi Bouzid and Kairouan.
These clouds could then reach the west of Sfax and Mahdia, even Monastir and Sousse, where local thunderstorms accompanied by rains, sometimes hail, are expected. At sea, time will be agitated on the north coasts and little disturbed elsewhere.
INM details
According to the INM, this development of temperatures and the current rainy episodes are part of the seasonal variability typical of the end of August. Meteorological services call citizens, especially in rural and agricultural areas, to remain attentive to local showers that can be accompanied by hail.
At the end of August, period of climatic contrasts
Each year, the end of August in Tunisia is marked by climatic fluctuations: persistent heat, localized storm episodes and first precipitation. These “medical rains” are generally welcomed by farmers because they moisten the soils after the high summer heat.
