The Ministry of the Interior announced, Monday, September 23, 2025 in the evening, the continuation of large -scale operations carried out by its various units under the police and the National Guard to counter the practices of grabbing and illicit speculation in the fruits, vegetables and other consumer products. These practices recently caused an artificial price increase and disrupted the supply, according to the same source.
The interventions concerned the wholesale and detail markets throughout the territory, targeting the actors involved in illegal speculation and affecting the purchasing power of citizens.
These operations allowed the arrest of several people and the drafting of minutes against them, in coordination with the public prosecutor.
In addition, the security services also intervened in many municipal and clandestine slaughterhouses as well as in the weekly markets. They entered several tonnes of red meats and poultry not in accordance with standards, in addition to hundreds of kilos of poultry unfit for consumption.
The Ministry of the Interior has reaffirmed its determination to continue these efforts in the field in order to protect the purchasing power of citizens and guarantee the health of the consumer.
