President Kaïs Saïed received, Monday, August 18, 2025, his Libyan counterpart Mohamed Younes El-Manfi in Tunis. A meeting placed under the sign of the strengthening of bilateral relations and common security, but also of solidarity with the Palestinian cause in the face of the crimes of the occupation.

The Tunisian head of state received his Libyan counterpart upon arrival at Tunis-Carthage airport, with military honors, before holding a work session at the presidential palace.

The two leaders reaffirmed the solidity of the historical links uniting the Tunisian and Libyan peoples, as well as their common desire to develop cooperation in all areas, emphasizing the importance of accelerating joint projects to overcome current difficulties.

Kaïs Saïed stressed that Tunisia security is intrinsically linked to that of Libya, saying that the common challenges must be met in a coordinated approach.

The Tunisian president recalled the constant position of his country in favor of a “Libyan-Libyan” solution, excluding any foreign interference and recognizing the Libyan people the exclusive right to decide on their future.

The meeting also discussed the situation in Palestine. Kaïs Saïed denounced war crimes committed by the Israeli occupation, evoking the tens of thousands of victims and the family policy imposed on civilians. He reiterated the support of Tunisia to the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to establish a sovereign state with Al Quds for capital.

The visit comes in a regional context marked by persistent instability in Libya and the escalation of violence in Gaza. Tunis and Tripoli, linked by deep economic, social and security relations, seek to coordinate their positions further in the face of common challenges.
