Friday 12 and Saturday 13 September 2025, nearly 9,000 Tunisian lawyers will go to the polls to elect the new council of the lawyer, as well as the person who will succeed Hatem Mziou at the head of the stick.
These elections will take place within the framework of the National Congress of Lawyers, organized at the Cité de la Culture in Tunis.
Bâtonnat candidates: eight contenders
The number of candidates is eight. Here is the official list of candidates and their profile:
Najla Triki
- Force: only woman in the running, which gives him a particular visibility in an environment still dominated by men.
- Political asset: could embody female renewal and representativeness.
- Défi: Convince that it has the network and experience to direct an order marked by intense political and social debates.
Abderraouf Ayadi
- Strength: known figure, both a lawyer and a former politician.
- Asset: Capital of notoriety and experience of public files.
- Défi: His controversial political career could arouse cleavages within the profession.
Hassen Toukabri
- Strength: experienced profile, renowned for its practice of law.
- Asset: perceived as a consensus candidate.
- Challenge: Relative lack of national visibility compared to other more publicized competitors.
Mohamed Hedfi
- Strength: Lawyer recognized for his commitment to rights to defend rights.
- Asset: proximity to the militant base of the profession.
- Défi: Transform this militant capital into a solid program for the management of the Council.
Nidhal Kraiem
- Strength: rising generation of the profession.
- Asset: embodies a desire to rejuvenate the stick.
- Challenge: Limited experience in the face of established figures.
Mohamed Mahjoub
- Force: balanced professional profile, known for its rigor.
- Asset: technical credibility.
- Défi: Pierce in an electoral field where charisma and the network often weigh more than competence.
Badreddine Mhiri
- Strength: known for its proximity to certain political and associative circles.
- Asset: Solid network.
- Challenge: Image too politicized in the eyes of part of the profession.
Boubaker Bethabet
- Strength: experienced lawyer, renowned for its capacity for mediation.
- Asset: could bring together several internal currents.
- Challenge: absence of strong posture could serve it in an election marked by polarization.
Voting & participation conditions
Only lawyers in office for at least a year will be able to vote. Retired or fees will be able to attend the congress, but not to vote.
The elected president will ensure a three-year term for the period 2025-2028, at the head of a renewed order council.
The major challenges of this ballot are a generational renewal, independence; Order having to remain a counter-power while escaping the partisan divisions, and a reform of the profession.
