Kais Saied plaide pour un nouveau cadre juridique pour les professionnels de santé

President Kais Saied pleaded on Tuesday July 1, 2025 for the urgent establishment of a renovated legal framework, aimed at guaranteeing the rights, dignity and protection of doctors, paramedical staff and all professionals in the health sector in Tunisia.

Receiving the Minister of Health, Mustapha Ferjani, at the Palais de Carthage, the Head of State paid a vibrant tribute to Tunisian medical skills, widely recognized abroad. He deplored the paradox of a country which “lends” its talents to the world, while facing a deep economic crisis: “So, who lends to whom? “, He launched, emphasizing the injustice to see Tunisia exporting human wealth without harvesting the fruits.

At the heart of this meeting, Kais Saied recalled that the right to health constitutes a fundamental human right and a constitutional principle. He called for concrete actions to strengthen access to care, in particular in marginalized regions, pending structural reform of the public health system.

The president also praised the memory of great figures of Tunisian medicine, like Habib Thameur, Ahmed Ben Miled – nicknamed “The doctor of the poor” – Slimane Ben Slimane and Tawhida Ben Cheikh, pioneer of female medicine. He expressed his admiration for the founders of the Faculty of Medicine of Tunis, who, in the 1960s, had chosen to put their knowledge at the service of the country.
