In the first half of 2025, exchanges between Tunisia and Italy reached 10.45 billion dinars. Tunisian exports amounted to 5.58 billion, compared to 4.88 billion imports. The balance is therefore positive, with a coverage rate of 115 %, according to Anis Basti, director of Cepex in Milan.
Tunisian imports mainly concern raw materials. These are essential products for industry and agriculture, such as fuels, agricultural machinery, fabrics and leather.
Tunisia exports mechanical and electric equipment to Italy, which represent 36.5 % of the total. The textiles follow with 21.2 %. Then come various products such as plastic, glass, furniture or medical devices.
Italy also continues to import leather, shoes (11.3 %) and food products. This includes olive oil, fish, dates, dried tomatoes or fresh vegetables (11.7 %).
The Cepex office in Milan wants to strengthen the presence of Tunisian products in Italy. The objective is to help exporters better understand the market and to seize new opportunities.
According to Anis Basti, Italy considers Tunisia as a strategic partner. Cooperation is strengthening, especially in the fields of energy, agriculture and new technologies.
