On the sidelines of the 78th session of the World Health Assembly, which is held in Geneva under the presidency of the Philippines, the Tunisian Minister of Health, Mustapha Ferjani, reaffirmed the will of Tunisia to establish itself as a regional platform for the manufacture of vaccines and drugs.
This ambition is an extension of the selection of Tunisia by the World Health Organization (WHO) among countries benefiting from technology transfer for Messenger RNA vaccines (mRNA), strategic recognition in the biomedical field.
Taking advantage of this international forum, the Minister has multiplied bilateral interviews with his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq, Mauritania, France and Ireland. He also met the Executive Director of the Medicines PAOL (MPP), an organization supported by the UN working for fair access to essential drugs in countries with low and intermediate income.
These discussions focused on the prospects for cooperation in several key areas, including training, financing and development of the pharmaceutical industry. Tunisia thus hopes to strengthen its health sovereignty while becoming a key player in the region.
