The Ministry of Communication Technologies has announced the launch of a second national call for tenders (n ° 02/2025) to extend telecommunications and high speed internet coverage to 103 white zones distributed in 15 governorates of the country.
These residential areas, which are still deprived of connectivity today, are characterized by a low population density, which makes their connection little attractive for private operators. The objective of this project is to reduce inequalities in access to digital technology and to guarantee fair coverage throughout the territory, especially in disadvantaged regions.
This new call for tenders is a continuation of a first project launched in 2017, which had made it possible, thanks to the exclusive participation of Tunisia Telecom, to connect 94 white areas, as well as 164 schools and 59 basic health centers, for the benefit of more than 180,000 citizens, including 13,000 students.
The ministry hopes to accelerate the reduction of the digital fracture and strengthen digital inclusion, especially in rural and isolated areas. The details of the procedure and the identity of interested operators will be known in the coming weeks.
