Tunisia continues its campaign to fight against the pilgrim locust, with nearly 600 hectares treated on March 27, 2025 in the most affected regions, notably Tataouine, Médenine, Gabès, Tozeur and Kébili.
Surveillance operations also continue in several risky governorates, including Gafsa, Sfax, Sidi Bouzid and Kairouan. To cope with the threat, the Ministry of Agriculture has strengthened logistical means, mobilizing all-terrain vehicles, sprayers, pesticide stocks and protective equipment.
A delegation led by Heikel Hachlaf, chief of staff to the Minister of Agriculture, went on March 26 and 27 to the areas concerned to support the teams on the ground. In addition, a mission of international experts is in Tunisia until March 29 in order to assess the situation and strengthen regional cooperation against this scourge.
