The Technical Center for Mechanical and Electrical Industries (CETIME) and the Tunisian-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK) have signed a strategic agreement to support Tunisian and German companies towards a more innovative, more sustainable and more competitive industry.

The agreement, concluded on Tuesday, covers the ecological transition, Industry 4.0, renewable energies and professional training, with the stated objective of accelerating the modernization of the Tunisian industrial fabric.

An agreement to accelerate the ecological and digital transition

The CETIME–AHK partnership is structured around several axes: support for companies in reducing their energy footprint, development of projects in Industry 4.0, mechatronics, industrial maintenance and electric mobility, as well as strengthening training in advanced industrial standards and technologies.

According to the general director of CETIME, Noureddine Guizani, the objective is clear: to put Tunisian technical expertise at the service of German companies established in the country, while consolidating the capacities of local companies, reports TAP Agency. He stressed that this cooperation constitutes a decisive lever to support the move upmarket of the mechanical and electrical industries.

For the general director of the AHK, Jörn Bousselmi, the agreement will allow Tunisian companies to more easily access European certifications, German technological standards and innovative industrial solutions. He insisted on the importance of this partnership to strengthen the competitiveness of the sectors and consolidate bilateral economic relations.

New projects, sharing of expertise and skills development

The agreement provides for the exchange of technical information, the organization of specialized training, the design of joint programs and the launch of pilot projects in renewable energies. It also emphasizes understanding the Tunisian legislative framework, an often decisive aspect for foreign investors.

The two institutions thus aim to facilitate the integration of emerging technologies in Tunisian companies, in particular automation, the digitalization of processes and the development of value chains based on energy efficiency.

Cooperation that aims for attractiveness and competitiveness

Beyond the technical aspects, the partnership intends to strengthen the attractiveness of Tunisia among German investors, already strongly present in the mechanical and electrical industries.

Improving the business climate and promoting innovative projects should, according to both parties, open up new perspectives for collaboration in the context of the country’s energy and digital transition.
