The criminal chamber of the first instance court of Ben Arous sentenced, Thursday, September 25, 11 defendants to sentences ranging from two to seven years in prison, with fines of 50,000 to 100,000 dinars. The accused, known as “habata”, were prosecuted for speculation and manipulation of prices.
The judges retained responsibility for the 11 defendants in fraudulent practices linked to supply and distribution on the markets, reports Mosaique FM. These sorrows are part of the fight against intermediary networks accused of disrupting prices regulation and taking advantage of tensions on basic products.
Last week, the prosecution at the Ben Arous court had already issued 11 deposit mandates against these same agents, arrested by the economic and financial surveys of the Carthage Judicial Police.
This operation is part of a national campaign to combat speculation, monopoly and manipulation of prices, launched to protect consumers in the face of surge in costs.
