The Ministry of Transport wants to register the port of Enfidha among the strategic projects of the State in order to accelerate its realization. The project is advancing on the land plan and should be carried out over five years once the work has started.

The Ministry of Transport has announced that steps are underway to have the ENFIDHA deep waters -by port project classified among strategic projects. This decision, which is part of the government decree n ° 497 of October 24, 2024 relating to major public projects, aims to accelerate the implementation of this infrastructure considered to be crucial for the development of the country.

In a written response addressed to the deputy Abdelhalim Boussema, the ministry said that the company “Port of Enfidha” presented its file on April 14, before the technical commission of the department. The document was then sent, in May 2025, to the Higher Commission of major projects, placed under the aegis of the Presidency of the Government.

The project also experiences notable advances in terms of land. The future port complex will integrate a dedicated maritime area and a logistics space. Land regularization is qualified by the ministry of “cornerstone” for the success of the site.

A provisional execution calendar has also been developed. It provides for a period of five years from the actual launch of the work.

Presented as a structuring project at the national level, the port of Enfidha is supposed to strengthen the strategic positioning of Tunisia at the heart of the Mediterranean basin. He is called upon to become a central lever of the Tunisian economy. The Ministry of Transport insists, as such, on the importance of rapid and sovereign decisions, guided by the principles of good governance, to guarantee an effective execution of the project.
