Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, and the Tunisian government’s heading, Sara Zafrani Zenzri, held a joint press conference on Thursday, September 11, 2025 in the new administrative capital of Egypt. The two officials displayed their desire to double the volume of bilateral exchanges and to strengthen political cooperation, in particular on Palestine and Libya.
Trade to strengthen
Mostafa Madbouly praised the success of the 18ᵉ session of the Tunisian-Egyptian mixed commission and announced the common objective of bringing the volume of trade to a billion dollars within two years. He also transmitted the greetings of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi to his Tunisian counterpart Kaïs Saïed, highlighting the total support of Egypt to Tunisian reforms and projects.
Economic cooperation to develop in Africa
Sara Zafrani Zenzeri insisted on the need to capitalize on the privileged relationship between the two presidents to intensify economic cooperation. It highlighted the strategic complementarity of the two countries: Tunisia as a gateway to West Africa, and Egypt as a key player in East and Center. She pleaded for more visits and field work in order to “raise the level of exchanges, still below the potential”.
Libyan file: priority to an internal solution
The two officials reaffirmed their attachment to the right of the Palestinian people to an independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967.
On Libya, the Tunisian government’s head of government defended a “Libyo-Libyan” approach rejecting any foreign intervention. She insisted on the Tunisian diplomatic line based on respect for national sovereignty and the independence of the choices of peoples.
