A group of deputies at the Assembly of People’s Representatives (ARP) presented a bill to establish the unique session system in public schools, with the aim of improving school time management and the quality of education.
The bill, made up of seven articles, was subject to the Education and Vocational Training Commission. It provides that courses are provided without interruption for a maximum of five hours a day, allowing students to devote the rest of the day to extracurricular activities.
Fitted schedules
The bill provides schedules with prices from Monday to Friday, and a maximum of five hours a day for the primary cycle; And a maximum of 30 hours per week, spread over five days for colleges and high schools.
The text offers progressive application, prioritizing rural areas and disadvantaged or difficult to access regions. MPs stress that this system could contribute to a better organization of schools and to more efficient learning for students.
Promote extracurricular activities
School time management is regularly the subject of discussions in Tunisia. The single session system is considered a solution to reduce students’ fatigue and promote access to complementary educational activities, especially in rural areas.
This initiative aims to modernize school organization and offer students a better balance between learning and extracurricular activities.
