The National Institute of Meteorology (INM) announced the appearance of locally thick fog on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning in different areas of the country, ranging from the north to the center to the southeast. The phenomena will be particularly marked near the coasts, in low-lying areas as well as around dams and wadis.
Significantly reduced visibility below 200 meters
According to the INM, this dense fog could lower visibility to less than 200 meters, making travel difficult, particularly on coastal roads and roads close to humid terrain. Meteorological authorities are calling on road users to be extra vigilant during these critical hours.
Dissipation expected by mid-morning
The phenomenon is expected to continue overnight and into the early hours of Thursday. The INM specifies that the fog will begin to gradually dissipate and disappear around 10 a.m., allowing a return to normal visibility in all the regions concerned.
This type of dense fog, common in December, is typically associated with high humidity and falling nighttime temperatures. Coastal areas and areas close to bodies of water remain particularly exposed.
