The Official Journal of the Tunisian Republic has published a decree setting new terms of payment of the automobile sticker for all types of vehicles. The measure, applicable from January 1, 2026, introduces secure electronic solutions to simplify the payment and control of road tax.
Simplified payment for all vehicles
The joint decree of the Ministers of Finance, Interior, Transport and Communication Technologies, dated December 19, specifies that payment of the automobile sticker can now be made directly at the finance revenue counters or via secure electronic platforms, for rapid and traceable online payment.
The text covers passenger cars, motorcycles and utility vehicles.
Receivability and automated verification
After payment, a receipt is issued according to the chosen method: paper version for over-the-counter payments; electronic version for online payments.
The Ministry of Finance will also provide programming interfaces (APIs) to supervisory authorities, enabling instant payment verification, strengthening transparency and the fight against fraud.
These new provisions will be effective from January 1, 2026, offering Tunisian motorists a modern alternative to pay their road tax while facilitating monitoring by administrations.
