The head of Tunisian diplomacy, Mohamed Ali Nafti, will represent Tunisia in Baghdad this May 17, on the occasion of two major Arab peaks: the 34th ordinary summit of the Arab League and the 5th summit devoted to economic and social development.
These meetings, organized in parallel, intervene in a tense regional context, marked by the continuation of the war waged by Israel against the population of Gaza and the growing violence in the West Bank. The Palestinian question will appear at the top of the political summit agenda, with the issue of a common reaction from the Arab world to what several countries qualify as “genocidal war”.
In parallel, the summit dedicated to development will emphasize the strengthening of economic and social partnerships between member countries. New cooperation approaches will be explored, with the aim of relaunching a collective dynamic in an Arab world in search of stability and inclusive growth.
