The Minister of Health, Mustapha Ferjani, affirmed that the ministry plans, from 2026, the installation of a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) device in each governorate of the country. This initiative is part of the national strategy aimed at strengthening access to advanced medical care for all citizens, particularly in interior regions.
During his speech to the deputies, the minister stressed that the generalization of MRIs will make it possible to considerably reduce diagnosis times and improve the quality of care, in particular for diseases requiring precise monitoring by medical imaging.
Ferjani also specified that this approach will be accompanied by a training program for hospital staff in order to guarantee optimal operation of the equipment. The ministry anticipates that these measures will help strengthen health equity and bring advanced diagnostic services closer to rural and remote populations.
The announcement comes as Tunisia seeks to modernize its healthcare system and integrate more advanced technologies to meet the growing needs of citizens.
