Tunisian security forces foiled an attempted terrorist operation on Saturday morning during an intervention in Fériana, in the governorate of Kasserine, the Interior Ministry announced.
According to the official press release, the operation, described as preventive, made it possible to neutralize a terrorist element deemed dangerous, identified as Saddik Abidi, and to arrest a second individual who accompanied him. The intervention took place near the weekly market of Fériana, an area usually very busy.
A security guard was seriously injured during the operation and had to be transported to hospital to receive the necessary treatment, the ministry said.
The authorities indicated that the security operation was continuing in order to shed light on the circumstances of this attempt and to identify possible ramifications.
