During its presidency of the third steering committee of the intelligent city project dedicated to the automotive industry, called “Automotive Smart City”, held this Wednesday, July 30, 2025, the Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy, Fatma Thabet Chiboub, called to intensify efforts and strengthen coordination between the various stakeholders to concretize this ambitious project.
An appeal motivated by the rise in investment requests in the automotive construction sector and its components in Tunisia.
Took part in this meeting AFEF Chechi Tlayari, chief of staff of the minister, Mariem Loumi, president of the Tunisian association of manufacturers of car components, as well as representatives of several ministries such as those of foreign affairs, economics, trade, vocational training, employment, or migration.
Also present were representatives of the GIZ (German Agency for International Cooperation), the director general of manufacturing industries Fethi Sehlawi, the CEO of the industrial land agency Mr. Kais Mejri, the CEO of the Sousse Hichem Turki development center, in addition to senior managers from the ministry and the private sector.
The Minister stressed that the realization of this intelligent city is fully part of the major orientations of the national industry and innovation strategy, as well as in the context of the pact for the strengthening of the competitiveness of the manufacturing sector of equipment and car components by 2027.
It highlighted the central role of this project to position Tunisia as a regional platform in this sector, thus helping to improve its integration into global value chains, to double the value of exports and to generate new qualified jobs.
The meeting also made it possible to take stock of the draft progress, to discuss its technical characteristics, its main components, possible obstacles, and to agree on the next steps to follow to accelerate its implementation.
