The Criminal Chamber of the Tunis Court of First Instance sentenced, Friday, Abir Moussi, president of the Free Destourian Party, to 12 years in prison, in the case of the office of the Presidency of the Republic. Mariam Sassi was sentenced to two years in prison. The opponent appeared under arrest for acts described as an attack on the structure of the State.
The charges relate to the management and coordination of an action considered to be an attempted attack aimed at modifying the state organization. The investigation, triggered after an incident involving members of the presidential protocol, quickly led to the indictment of the PDL leader. The court considered that the elements presented justified the most severe sentence in this case.
