The president of the Local Union of Farmers and Maritime Fisheries of Nabeul and member of the Regional Union of Farmers in charge of Great Cultures, Mohamed Ben Mouaia, said that a meeting was held on Wednesday April 2, 2025 at the headquarters of the governorate of Nabeul.
This meeting, bringing together the various actors concerned, was dedicated to the preparations for the cereal harvest season in Cape Bon for the year 2025.
He stressed that the cereal season takes place in good conditions and suggests a record harvest, similar to that recorded in 2019, if the precipitation continues in April.
According to the official, the governorate of Nabeul devoted 70,000 hectares to cereal and fodder crops, including 22,000 hectares of durum wheat, an area that the region aims to succeed.
Regarding the quality of the harvest, he said that around 66 % of the surfaces have an excellent yield, 33 % an average yield and approximately 1 % a low yield.
The farmers’ representative also announced that five cereal collection centers have been set up under the supervision of a mixed commission chaired by the governor of the region. These centers will start their activities from April 7.
He also indicated that the regional civil protection, agriculture and security services are committed to developing roads and agricultural tracks, as well as to ensure the harvest, transport and storage of cereals, as mentioned at the meeting.
