MP Yosri Baouab has announced that a group of deputies has presented a fundamental bill registering in the social orientation of the State. This text aims to allow active mothers to reconcile professional and family life through measures that are both protective and incentives, applicable in the public and private sectors.

In his intervention on Mosaic FM radio, this Monday, July 14, 2025, the deputy explained that the bill includes 15 articles, one of which provides social assistance for active mothers. It would notably be a monthly maternity allowance indexed to the number of children under 12: 150 dinars for the first child and 100 dinars for each additional child.

The main provisions of the bill also include:

  • The obligation for large companies to set up crèches on site or to conclude agreements with approved structures;
  • Professional flexibility by part-time labor law (half-time or telework), while guaranteeing productivity and professional rights, including salary;
  • Flexible family leave, including 5 exceptional days of rest per year in the event of an emergency linked to the health of children, not deducted from the annual leave;
  • The criminalization of dismissal or professional exclusion in connection with maternity, with the establishment of an administrative reporting mechanism to protect employees from any form of harassment;
  • A specific professional advantage for mothers dealing with a child with disabilities or suffering from autism spectrum disorders;
  • The possibility for pregnant or breastfeeding women to postpone or reprogram their professional exams in order to guarantee fair assessment conditions.

The deputy also stressed that innovative financing mechanisms have been proposed to ensure the implementation of this bill without weighing down the charges of the state.
